About

K J Muhammed Aslam — Advocate, Ernakulam, Kerala

I am an advocate enrolled with the Bar Council of Kerala (K/001823/2026), with an office at High Court Junction, Ernakulam. My practice centres on cyber and technology law, data protection (DPDP), and business, banking, IP and tax law, with litigation before the High Court of Kerala and the courts at Ernakulam.

I learned business and technology first. Then I learned the law.

Technology

The technology years

For about two and a half years I have worked with WebXLR8, a technology solutions company: first in business operations and, since February 2026, as its legal consultant. The work covers commercial contracts and technology engagements, and shows how businesses decide on software, data and risk.

In the same period I ran two ventures of my own: Droneographer, a commercial aerial media operation (I hold a DGCA Remote Pilot Certificate, issued in 2022, and fly under the Drone Rules through DigitalSky), and UnlockStory, a Kochi digital marketing and aerial media agency founded in 2023. I stepped back from active management of both on enrolment in January 2026. Signing the vendor agreements, following up payments and carrying the business risk is where my working understanding of contracts and business disputes comes from.

Outside practice, I have used Web3 systems (wallets, NFTs and exchanges) for several years, and run MalluCryptoGamer, a small Malayalam explainer channel about them. It is a personal technology interest; the channel gives no legal or investment advice.

That background is why the practice gives weight to data pipelines, UPI transaction chains and technology contracts: they are part of the facts of many matters today.

Law

Law, deliberately

I read for my BBA LLB (Hons.) at Bharata Mata School of Legal Studies, Aluva, and used every vacation to see how the profession works at each level: from the chamber of a Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record in New Delhi to a legislative fellowship at the Kerala Legislative Assembly.

In January 2026 I enrolled with the Bar Council of Kerala, and I practise from the chamber of Adv. M B M Nissar at High Court Junction, Ernakulam. Education, internships and every role since are set out on the professional profile.

Why this practice

Why technology and business law

Much of what reaches an advocate now starts online. Accounts are frozen over transactions received in good faith. Families facing sextortion often do not know the law gives them options. Businesses sign technology contracts they do not fully understand, and from 14 May 2027 most of the DPDP Act's obligations will apply to them.

Technology problems increasingly become legal problems, and they rarely arrive alone: a frozen account becomes a police case, a contract dispute becomes a recovery suit, a data breach becomes a complaint. That is why the practice also covers litigation (criminal, civil, property, family and service matters) before the High Court of Kerala and the courts at Ernakulam. See the practice areas.

Method

How I work

Plain language
You will always know what is happening in your matter and why.
Documents in the forms Kerala courts use
Pleadings, notices and agreements are drafted to the formats and registry requirements of the court or authority they are meant for.
A clear view of your options
The first meeting covers whether the matter needs a lawyer at all, which court or authority hears it, and the time limits that apply.
Technology in daily practice
Where a matter turns on digital evidence, data flows or a platform's own procedure, those are examined as part of the facts from the start.

Also

Beyond the brief

I am trained in mediation and negotiation (Mediation Masterclass, The Mediation Society), because some disputes are better settled than litigated. I am pursuing a Master of Business Laws (MBL) at NLSIU PACE, begun in 2026. Alongside practice, I am building Lexosys, a firm of advocates focused on technology law, data protection and IT compliance.

Advocates elsewhere in Kerala with a matter at Ernakulam will find the working arrangements on the For Advocates page.
